The vision is to create an affirming and inclusive space for young people to come together and actively work towards eradicating racism, transphobia and the marginalization of any members of our community. We strive to educate and empower our members through open dialogue, workshops and events, and to encourage them to become agents of change in their own lives and beyond. Our goal is to build a strong network of young leaders who are committed to challenging systemic injustices and creating a more equitable future for all.
High school students from different schools come together to engage in critical discussions about the challenges faced by traditionally marginalized
students, including Black and brown students, LGBTQ+ students, and students from marginalized religious backgrounds.
Our team works collaboratively to research innovative solutions to these challenges, utilizing trauma-informed planning, conflict resolution training, and open dialogue among members as foundational tools.
LFC participants will be empowered to advocate for more welcoming and affirming school environments by presenting their findings to the broader educational community- including, but not limited to making direct contact with the NYS Department of Education and requesting policy changes.
